Childhood: Rajkumar Ramchandran (“Rajkumar”, for short) was born in Bombay (Mumbai) and grew up in Madras (Chennai) in a typical South Indian Brahmin atmosphere. The youngest of five children, he was fairly good in studies and very good in sports. He passed out of Engineering College (Guindy) in the year 1974, graduating in Electronics and Telecommunications.
From the age of eleven he consciously and actively believed in God. His devotions were focused on lord Subramanya whom he was told was the family deity. He was also a believer in Sathya Sai Baba and regularly visited the Shirdi Sai Baba temple. As far as other religions and faiths were concerned, he thought that these were also ways by which people could know God. He believed that each person worshiped and related to God in his or her own way.
Provoked to read the Bible: Rajkumar joined Siemens in December 1974 and worked in Bangalore for five years. One of his colleagues, Nirmal Kumar, was a believer from a Catholic charismatic background. One day Nirmal casually told him that he believed Rajkumar was a religious and God-fearing person but that he needed to know that God loved him and that the only way to God was through Jesus and that there was no other way of Salvation. Rajkumar was 26 years old and this was the first time he had heard anything like this. His first reaction was that Nirmal was a fanatic, and the best way of proving Nirmal wrong and himself right was to read the Bible and prove to him from the Bible that every religion was the same. So he got himself a Bible and secretly began to read it!
Thus started his journey and struggle to come to know and understand the Savior and the freedom that comes through Christ. Reading the Bible gave him deep peace, and answered his questions about life and God. Rajkumar was amazed by the person and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Salvation! On the 25th of May, 1980, Rajkumar went to an Assembles of God Church in Munich for the first time, primarily to pray for his brother who was getting married in India. After the message, the German pastor Rev Peter Dippl gave an altar call and Rajkumar found himself going forward and offered himself to the Lord - as His servant. It was 9:30 p.m. and he received a new life! Within a few minutes, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and realized he was indeed a new creation! Rev Peter Dippl prophesied that God would take Rajkumar to New Delhi, and he would have a Bible study that would be well known in Delhi, India, and the world. (A short while later, his company transferred Rajkumar, from Bangalore to New Delhi).
Immediately after receiving the gift of salvation, Rajkumar asked the Lord to make him a witness for Christ and also change his life to be a blessing to others. The anointing on his life was evident during his seventeen year tenure at Siemens during which time he led the weekly Bible study at his home and was actively ministering the Word of God wherever he was called. On his brother's advice, he resigned and took up a consulting assignment with a US firm, to oversee the restructuring of a Soviet military plant (in Siberia) for commercial use. Rajkumar later left the corporate world to work as an Evangelist, Bible teacher, and revival preacher. He is one of HI International’s most inspiring faculty members. Since 1980 he has been an instrument in God's hands, leading thousands across the world to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and reconciliation with the Triune God.
Ministry: Rajkumar’s ministry has a three-fold focus: firstly, sharing the Good News with non-believers, secondly, revival in churches, and thirdly, ministering to pastors and leaders. His ministry is characterised by a deep love for the Word of God, a noticeable simplicity, and the unction of the Holy Spirit. He has a God-given gift of helping to bring local churches together in deeper unity, and a ministry that is accepted by churches/institutions that include mainline denominations, evangelical, charismatic, as well as pentecostal churches.
The preaching and teaching of the Word is often accompanied by signs, wonders, and miracles worked by the Holy Spirit, pointing people to the only Savior and Lord - Jesus Christ! Rajkumar has travelled to 46 countries, and been on radio and television in many other countries. His messages are currently being broadcast on FEBA radio. Details of his itinerary, and messages that could be ordered are found elsewhere on this website.
Immediate family: Rajkumar and his wife Ragini are longstanding members of Apostles’ Methodist Church, R.K. Puram, New Delhi. They have a son named Akshay who is now in full time ministry based in Delhi.
We thank God for the inspiring life and ministry of Rajkumar and his family, and give HIM all the credit. To God be the glory!
